Successful executive search consultants come from every conceivable background, ethnic persuasion, religious orientation, age group, and personality type on the planet. Most have formal education. Most have entered the profession as a second career. Substantially all have been successful in a previous profession or career. There is no specific profile of the successful search consultant nor is there any specific formula or test to determine who will and who will not be successful.

A career with Allen Austin can be a tremendously rewarding career. Our profession has evolved into what is arguably the most prestigious profession on earth. The average search consultant with two years tenure is more highly compensated than the average medical doctor. The unfortunate reality however is that people do fail in our industry. In an effort to substantially eliminate the possibility of failure, we have studied search professionals inside and outside of our firm. As we stated earlier, there is no one background or personality type that fits in our firm or in our industry. There are however specific attributes we look for as a firm, and traits that seem to make individuals successful in our industry.

While we never hire individuals we don't believe will be successful; the reality is some capable individuals do in fact leave the profession before they ever achieve a meaningful level of success.
